Week 5: Cross Country Runners of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week for September 26-October 2, 2022. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cross Country Runners-of-the Week
Women – Jessica Kampman, Dordt University
Jessica Kampman of Dordt University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Kampman, a senior from Abbotsford, British Columbia, was the top NAIA runner at the Briar Cliff Invite held last weekend at the Adams Nature Preserve in North Sioux City, South Dakota. Running in her first race of the season, Kampman finished second overall, trailing only an unattached runner, and crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 17:46, 21 seconds faster than her previous best. Kampman helped lead the Defenders to the team championship with 17 points.
Men – Trey Engen, Dordt University
Trey Engen of Dordt University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Engen, a senior from Algona, Iowa, was the top NAIA runner at the Briar Cliff Invite held last weekend at the Adams Nature Preserve in North Sioux City, South Dakota. Engen completed the 8K course with a season-best time of 25:54, two seconds off his personal best, and finished sixth among runners who counted in the standings. Engen helped lead the Defenders to a second-place finish, trailing only NCAA Division I school South Dakota State.
