Week 3: GPAC Softball Players of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the softball player and pitcher-of-the-week for contests played February 16-22, 2026. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2025-2026 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Softball Weekly Honors

Player – Allison Koontz, Northwestern College (Pitcher)

Allison Koontz of Northwestern College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports softball player-of-the-week.  Koontz, a freshman from Glenwood, Iowa, led the Raider offense to three wins last weekend, including a win over No. 23 Saint Xavier (Ill.). On the week, Koontz hit .615 with three doubles, a triple, and a home run. She drove in five runs on the weekend and stole a base in addition to going 2-0 in the circle.

Pitcher – Mackenzie Groninga, Midland University

Mackenzie Groninga of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week.  Groninga, a sophomore from Blair, Nebraska, picked up wins in both of her outings last week. She tallied 22 strikeouts over 16.0 innings (9.63 k/7) while allowing seven hits and three earned runs. Her ERA for the week was 1.31 with two complete games.
