Week 7: Men's Volleyball Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Men's Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played March 6-12, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Volleyball Players-of-the-Week
Attacker – Oguzhan Oguz, University of Jamestown (Opposite)
Oguzhan Oguz of the University of Jamestown is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Oguz, a freshman, from Bursa, Turkey, piled up 78 kills in a five game stretch for the Jimmies. He hit .316 on the week, averaging 4.11 kills per set. He also chipped in with 29 digs and 14 blocks to go along with nine aces.
Setter- Derek Correa, University of Jamestown
Derek Correa from the University of Jamestown is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Correa, a senior from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, put up 207 assists during a busy five game stretch for the Jimmies. He averaged10.89 assists per set, and have 35 or more assists in three of the five contests. He also had eight service aces, 23 digs and six blocks as the Jimmies went 4-1 on the week.
Defender – Robert Piekarz, Dordt University (Libero)
Robert Piekarz of Dordt University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Piekarz, a sophomore from Warsaw, Poland, had 47 digs for the Defenders last week. He averaged 3.56 digs per set and had just two serve receive errors in 61 tries.
