Week 1: Men's Volleyball Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Men's Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played January 23-29, 2022. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Volleyball Players-of-the-Week
Attacker – Caleb Kulesza, Dordt University (Opposite)
Caleb Kulesza of Dordt University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Kulesza, a senior, from Chicago, Illinois, hit for a .558 kill efficiency in a pair of GPAC wins while averaging 4.5 kills per set. In a win Over Central Christian he hit a blistering .700 to go along with four blocks.
Setter- Derek Correa, University of Jamestown
Derek Correa from the University of Jamestown is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Correa, a senior from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, piled up a team-high 34 assists and four digs in a win over Kansas Wesleyan. He followed that up with 21 assists in a victory over Central Christian. Both came via the sweep for the Jimmies.
Defender – Akeil Williams, Ottawa University (Middle Blocker)
Akeil WIlliams of Ottawa University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Williams, a sophomore from Barbados, played all six rotations for the first time in his career, doing so in the matches against Westcliff and Missouri Baptist. He finished the week with 20 digs and 17 blocks. Williams averaged 6.6 digs per match and 1.8 digs per set. He had 5.6 blocks per match and 1.5 blocks per set. In OU's 3-2 win over Westcliff, he had 13 digs and seven blocks to go along with 21 kills.
