Week 5: GPAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events – Andrew Schmitz, Doane University
Andrew Schmitz of Doane University is this week's field athlete-of-the-week. Schmitz, a senior from Papillion, Nebraska, posted a personal best mark in the discus (148-03). On Sunday, he posted an outdoor personal best in winning the shot put (53-01.50) and moved into second in the GPAC. He added a win in the hammer throw (191-00) and currently leads the conference. Both marks on Sunday met the NAIA provisional standard.
Track Events – Tommy Smith, Doane University
Tommy Smith of Doane University is this week's track athlete-of-the-week. Smith, a freshman from Omaha, Nebraska, ran the fastest time of the prelims of the 110m hurdles (14.39), hitting the NAIA provisional qualifying mark. His mark is the fastest time in the GPAC this year and 16th best in the NAIA.
