Week 7: GPAC Tennis Players of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following tennis players-of-the-week for April 6-12, 2026.  Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2025-2026 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Tennis Weekly Honors

Women's Tennis – Maria Purizaca, Doane University
Maria Purizaca of Doane University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Purizaca, a junior from Lima, Peru, picked up three big wins in singles play on the week. She opened the week with a straight-set win over Callista Uchil of Saint Mary (3-1 record after the match) followed by a win over Matilde Di Martino of Northwestern (14-5). Purizaca capped the week with an upset of NAIA #3 Line Jensen of Morningside (27-3) in three sets. She teamed with Liz Calderon to go 2-1 on the week, posting a 6-4 win over NAIA #8 Line Jensen and Brooke Marshall of Morningside.

Men's Tennis – Leo Lopez, Concordia University
Leo Lopez of Concordia University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Lopez, freshman from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, helped Concordia to a week of dominance that included 7-0 GPAC wins over Midland and Mount Marty. Lopez went 2-0 in both singles and doubles. He played at the No. 1 doubles spot in both matches. Lopez improved to 14-2 on the season in singles. Concordia is currently in second place in the GPAC standings.
