Week 1: GPAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Men's Soccer Players-of-the-Week for contests played August 19-25, 2024. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2025-26 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Men's Offense – Alejandro Illan, Briar Cliff University (Forward)

Alejandro Illan of Briar Cliff University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Illan, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, totaled seven points with three goals and one assist as the Chargers went 2-0 last week. Illan scored two goals against McPherson and notched a goal and an assist against Central Christian.

Men's Defense – Edoardo Alessandrini, Northwestern College (Keeper)

Edoardo Alessandrini of Northwestern College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Alessandrini, a junior, from Rome, Italy, collected a win and a draw on the weekend, posting a 1.00 goals against average. He collected three saves in a shutout win over Bethel, including a defensive stand on a penalty kick in the first half.
