Week 11: GPAC Baseball Players of the Week

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Baseball Weekly Honors
Player – Jake Watson, Concordia University (Catcher)
Concordia catcher Jake Watson is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports baseball player-of-the-week. Watson, a sophomore from Lincoln, Nebraska, notched two hits in all four games of Concordia's series with Dakota Wesleyan. Watson also held down the catcher position for every inning. Overall, he went 9-for-16 with three doubles, a home run and nine RBIs. Watson is hitting .353 in his first season on the varsity roster. The Bulldogs won three of four from the Tigers.
Pitcher – Alex Johnson, Concordia University
Alex Johnson of Concordia University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week. Johnson, a graduate student from Olathe, Kansas, continued his strikeout binge in his start at Dakota Wesleyan. The national leader in strikeouts per nine innings (15.75) among starting pitchers, Johnson accumulated 14 strikeouts while limiting the Tigers to one run in six innings of work. In six starts in GPAC play, Johnson is 6-0 with 66 strikeouts in 37 innings.
